Pensamentos Internacionalistas - Terry Nardin
Terry W. Nardin nasceu no dia 19 de janeiro de 1942 nos Estados Unidos. Formado em Filosofia, possui phD em Ciência Política, Nardin é uma das principais referências na área da filosofia política aplicada às Relações Internacionais. Atualmente, é chefe do Departamento de Ciência Política da Universidade de Singapura e professor de Ciência Política na Universidade de Yale (EUA).
Além da área, Nardin possui estudos em áreas e pesquisa como política internacional, teoria legal, história do pensamento político. Ele escreveu acerca de teorias da justiça, teoria da guerra justa, intervenção humanitária, dentre outros.
Sua obra mais reconhecida, Law, Morality, and the Relations of States (1983), analisa e defende a ideia de que a sociedade de Estados é regida tanto pelas leis internacionais quanto pelas tradições morais.
Using the word ‘human’ to modify ‘right’ is supposed to convey that the right is one that a person possesses by virtue of being a human being, whether or not it is recognized in positive law. In an older vocabulary, it is a ‘natural’ rather than an artificial right that exists by agreement or convention. So in one sense, human rights do exist in the absence of law.
